March Into History!
Discover the past by locating historic markers and following clues to hunt down our local history. The Scott County Historical Society (In partnership with Georgetown/Scott County Tourism, Scott County Public Library and local downtown businesses) will be hosting the March Into History scavenger hunt throughout the month of March, offering a variety of prizes to participants young & old! Participants will hunt down historical markers to fill out their scavenger hunt sheet, then return their sheets to Tourism, the Chamber Offce, or Georgetown/Scott County Museum to be entered into a prize drawing. Winners will be selected in a drawing on April 10, 2021 for prizes from local Scott County businesses.
What are Historical Markers?
Kentucky historical markers are plaques, stone markers with engraved text or signs erected at historically significant locations, facilities or buildings and are usually found near public roadways or in parks. They call attention to and recognize special persons, places and events in the history of the place in which they are located, acting as important reminder of our past!
How To Get Started?
Participants can download & print off their scavenger hunt sheets below or pick up their sheet at the Georgetown/Scott County Tourism Office, the Chamber Office, Scott County Public Libary or the Georgetown/Scott County Museum. All participants must turn in their completed sheets by March, 31 2021.
